Rooney Insists Manchester City Hold All the Psychological Cards in Premier League Title Race
Wayne Rooney has declared Manchester City as the favorites psychologically in the Premier League title race, pointing to their experience and Pep Guardiola's track record as the decisive factors.

Wayne Rooney has offered his verdict on the most compelling title battle in European football, insisting Manchester City possess the mental advantage heading into Sunday's pivotal encounter with Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.

Arsenal maintain a six-point lead at the summit of the Premier League table, though they have completed one game more than their title rivals. The margin sets the stage for what could prove to be the decisive fixture of the campaign.

Speaking on The Wayne Rooney Show, the former England captain explained precisely why he believes City will hold the psychological edge when the heat intensifies. City know how to win the title and they have a manager who knows how to do it. They will be able to stay a little calmer than the Arsenal players, Rooney stated.

City are fresh off a commanding 3-0 victory over Chelsea that closed the gap at the top, while Arsenal stumbled to a 2-1 defeat against Bournemouth that handed City renewed hope. Rooney suggested that winning runs breed confidence while losing streaks can trap players in a negative mindset, causing them to question where their next victory will originate.

Looking toward Sunday's crucial fixture, Rooney offered tactical insight for Arsenal's approach. He advised Mikel Arteta's squad to remain compact, eliminate spaces between defensive and midfield lines, and strike on the counterattack. Whether the fans like that type of football or not, they have to do anything to stop City winning. They need to be resilient enough to stop City from scoring.

Rooney also suggested a draw would constitute a useful outcome for Arsenal, keeping their fate in their own hands. Whoever claims victory at the Etihad will emerge as the firm favourite to lift the trophy come May.
