T1 Dominates Gen.G 3-0 to Win League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational Championship in Record-Breaking Fashion
The Korean powerhouse claimed their third MSI title behind Faker outstanding performance, sweeping the defending champions in front of 12,000 fans in Busan.

T1 completed one of the most dominant championship runs in League of Legends esports history on Friday evening at the Busan Esports Stadium, sweeping defending champions Gen.G 3-0 to claim the Mid-Season Invitational title behind a masterful performance from legendary mid-laner Lee Sang-hyeok, better known as Faker, who demonstrated once again why he is considered the greatest player of all time.

The 30-year-old esports icon was in complete command throughout the best-of-five series, piloting Azir, LeBlanc, and Orianna to perfection while orchestrating T1 team fights with the kind of precise macro play that has defined his legendary career spanning over a decade. Faker finished the series with a combined KDA of 21/3/35 across three games, never dying more than once in any individual match.

This feels incredible, especially to do it here in Korea in front of our home crowd, Faker said during the trophy presentation ceremony while wiping away tears of emotion. Gen.G is such a strong team with amazing players, but we prepared perfectly for this series and executed our game plan flawlessly. This MSI title means so much to me and the organization.

T1 dominance was built on their superior vision control and objective prioritization, securing every Baron and Elder Dragon throughout the series while maintaining gold leads that never dipped below 3,000 after the 20-minute mark in any game. ADC Lee Min-hyeong and support Ryu Min-seok formed a devastating bot lane duo that consistently won their matchups and provided late-game insurance.

The championship represents T1 third MSI title and their first major international victory since their World Championship triumph in 2023. The organization systematic approach to roster development and strategic innovation has once again proven successful on the biggest stage, with head coach Kim Jeong-gyun receiving widespread praise for his draft phases and in-game adjustments.

Gen.G fought admirably throughout the series despite the disappointing result, with mid-laner Chovy and jungler Canyon showing flashes of brilliance that reminded everyone why they were considered pre-tournament favorites. However, they could not match T1 coordination and teamfight execution when it mattered most, particularly in crucial Baron pit skirmishes that decided the outcome of multiple games.

The $500,000 first-place prize and MSI trophy caps off an incredible tournament run for T1 that saw them defeat every major region representative without dropping a single best-of-five series. Their combination of veteran leadership from Faker and emerging talent from their younger players has established them as the clear favorite heading into this summer World Championship.

With this victory, Faker extends his record for most international championships and continues to cement his legacy as the most successful player in League of Legends competitive history, while T1 returns to the summit of global esports competition.
