Scott Jamieson Ends 14-Year DP World Tour Drought at Nexo Championship

Scott Jamieson ended a 14-year wait for his second DP World Tour title by winning the Nexo Championship at Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire. BBC Sport reported that the 42-year-old Scot completed the tournament at 11 under par, two strokes ahead of England's Matthew Jordan, after beginning the final round three shots off the lead.

Jamieson produced a closing 67 to overhaul Jordan, who had held the overnight advantage. England's Andy Sullivan finished four shots behind the winner at seven under, while Spain's Quim Vidal, Sweden's Marcus Kinhult and Japan's Keita Nakajima shared the next position at six under, according to the final standings carried by the BBC.

The contest also turned on a penalty involving South Africa's Shaun Norris. The BBC reported that Norris had been leading before receiving a two-stroke penalty for kicking away a loose divot on the fairway. Jamieson moved in front and maintained his position through the closing holes to complete the victory.

The result delivered Jamieson's first win on the circuit since the 2012 Nelson Mandela Championship. It was only his second DP World Tour triumph, but it carried immediate practical significance: the victory secured his playing rights for at least next season after he had entered the event at risk of losing his tour card.

After the presentation, Jamieson received a video call from United States President Donald Trump. The BBC said contacting the winner has become a tradition at Trump International Golf Links. Fellow Scot Grant Forrest, who won the event last year, had previously received the same post-tournament call. Jamieson said Trump appeared to have followed the action.

Forrest endured a difficult title defence, shooting 80 on Sunday to finish 10 over par. Two other Scottish players, Euan Walker and Connor Syme, ended the championship in a share of 10th place at four under. The day nevertheless belonged to Jamieson, whose final-round recovery converted a three-shot deficit into a two-shot victory and ended one of the tour's longer waits between wins.
