NBA All-Star Weekend Voting Closes with Surprising Results
Final All-Star voting reveals unexpected selections as fan favorites secure starting spots for the 2026 showcase in Indianapolis.

The NBA All-Star voting concluded at midnight Thursday, delivering some shocking results that will reshape the starting lineups for the 2026 All-Star Game in Indianapolis. Fan voting played a decisive role in several controversial selections that have sparked debate across social media and sports talk shows.

The biggest surprise came in the Western Conference frontcourt, where an unexpected surge in international voting propelled Sacramento Kings forward Domantas Sabonis into a starting position over more traditional choices like Anthony Davis and Kawhi Leonard. Sabonis, who has been averaging 19.2 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 7.1 assists this season, benefited from a massive social media campaign that originated in his native Lithuania.

In the Eastern Conference, Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro secured his first All-Star starting nod after a breakout season that has seen him average 24.7 points per game while shooting 41% from three-point range. His selection over established stars like Trae Young and Damian Lillard reflects both his improved play and the Heat's surprising position atop the Eastern Conference standings.

The fan voting also elevated Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker to a starting spot, despite the team's struggles this season. Booker's 27.3 points per game average and his clutch performances in nationally televised games helped him edge out other Western Conference guards in the final tally.

Perhaps most controversial was the selection of Orlando Magic center Paolo Banchero, whose rapid development in his fourth season has captured fan imagination. The former Duke star is averaging 22.1 points and 8.9 rebounds while leading the Magic to their best start in over a decade.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver defended the voting process, noting that fan engagement reached an all-time high with over 127 million votes cast worldwide. The All-Star Game is scheduled for February 18th at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, promising to showcase this unique blend of established superstars and rising talents.
