NBA All-Star Weekend Delivers Record-Breaking Performances in Chicago
The 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago showcased incredible talent with multiple records falling during Skills Challenge and Three-Point Contest events.

The 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago delivered one of the most memorable celebrations in recent history, with record-breaking performances across multiple events that had fans on their feet throughout the three-day spectacle at the United Center.

Damian Lillard of the Milwaukee Bucks made headlines Friday night by setting a new Three-Point Contest record, draining an unprecedented 31 shots out of 34 attempts in the final round. The Portland native, competing in his hometown of sorts, connected on seven consecutive shots from the deep corner to seal his second Three-Point Contest title. Playing in front of this crowd, with this energy, you just feel like every shot is going in, Lillard said after accepting the trophy.

The Skills Challenge saw Boston Celtics guard Derrick White navigate the course in a blazing 25.2 seconds, breaking the previous record by nearly two full seconds. White's combination of ball-handling precision and court vision was on full display as he maneuvered through the obstacles with surgical precision. The victory marked the first Skills Challenge win for a Celtic since Rajon Rondo in 2010.

Saturday's Rising Stars game featured the most competitive matchup in years, with Team Detlef defeating Team Isiah 185-181 in a thrilling overtime affair. French rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs dominated both ends of the floor, finishing with 28 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 blocks while showcasing his unique combination of size and skill that has NBA executives already drawing comparisons to generational talents.

The weekend's festivities extended beyond the hardwood, with Chicago's basketball community celebrating the return of All-Star Weekend to the Windy City for the first time since 1988. Local restaurants and venues reported record crowds, while the NBA's interactive fan experience at McCormick Place drew over 50,000 visitors across the three days.

Sunday's All-Star Game promises to be the weekend's crown jewel, with Team LeBron and Team Giannis squaring off in what many are calling the most talent-laden rosters in All-Star history. The game will tip off at 8 PM ET, with both captains promising an entertaining show for the Chicago faithful who have waited nearly four decades for this moment.
