T1 Defeats Gen.G 3-1 to Win LCK Spring Championship in League of Legends
T1 cemented their dynasty in Korean League of Legends on Sunday evening, defeating Gen.G 3-1 in the LCK Spring Championship final at LoL Park in Seoul to claim their 11th domestic title. Led by the legendary Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok, T1 delivered a masterclass performance that showcased why they remain the gold standard in professional League of Legends competition.
The series began with Gen.G taking the opening game in a closely contested 35-minute affair, but T1 responded with three consecutive victories that demonstrated their championship pedigree. Faker, now 30 years old and still performing at the highest level, was instrumental in T1's comeback with exceptional play on Azir and LeBlanc that reminded fans why he's considered the greatest player of all time.
"This feels incredible," Faker said during the post-match interview. "Every championship means something special, but to do it with this group of teammates makes it even more meaningful. We struggled early in the split, but we never stopped believing in our system and our preparation. Gen.G played us tough, but we showed our championship experience when it mattered most."
The turning point of the series came in Game 2, when T1's bot lane duo of Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong and Ryu "Keria" Min-seok dominated a crucial team fight around Baron that swung momentum decisively in their favor. Their synergy and mechanical execution in the late game proved too much for Gen.G to handle, despite strong individual performances from Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu and Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon.
T1's victory was built on their superior macro play and team fighting, areas where their veteran leadership and championship experience became evident as the series progressed. Head coach Kim "Roach" Kang-hee's strategic adjustments between games neutralized Gen.G's early game advantages and allowed T1's superior late-game execution to take over.
"We knew this would be a difficult series because Gen.G had beaten us twice during the regular season," said T1's jungler Moon "Oner" Hyeon-jun. "But we studied their gameplay patterns and made the right adjustments. Our communication was perfect today, and everyone stepped up when we needed them most."
Gen.G, despite the disappointing result, showed tremendous growth throughout the split and established themselves as legitimate contenders for international competition. Chovy's individual brilliance in the mid lane kept Gen.G competitive throughout the series, while Canyon's aggressive jungle style created numerous opportunities that T1 was forced to respect.
The championship victory earns T1 automatic qualification for the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2026 in Busan, where they'll represent the LCK against the world's best teams. As the most successful organization in League of Legends history, T1 will enter MSI as one of the tournament favorites alongside China's JD Gaming and Europe's G2 Esports.
With this latest title, Faker extends his record as the most successful player in competitive League of Legends history, while T1 continues their dominance of Korean esports. Their combination of veteran leadership and young talent suggests they'll remain championship contenders for years to come.
