Gonzaga Bulldogs Complete Perfect Regular Season with Dramatic 89-87 Victory Over Saint Mary's in WCC Championship
Drew Timme scored 28 points as the Bulldogs capped off a historic 30-0 regular season with their eighth consecutive WCC tournament title.

The Gonzaga Bulldogs achieved perfection on Friday night in Las Vegas, completing an unblemished 30-0 regular season with a thrilling 89-87 victory over Saint Marys in the West Coast Conference championship game that showcased why they enter March Madness as the overwhelming favorite to cut down the nets in April.

Senior center Drew Timme was absolutely magnificent in what may have been his final collegiate game, pouring in 28 points on 11-of-16 shooting while adding 8 rebounds and 5 assists in a performance that demonstrated why he is widely considered one of the best players in college basketball. Timme controlled the paint throughout the contest, using his soft touch around the basket and improved three-point shooting to keep Saint Marys at bay.

To go 30-0 in the regular season is something we will remember for the rest of our lives, Timme said during the trophy presentation ceremony. This team has been special all year, and to cap it off with another WCC championship feels incredible. But we know our real goal is still ahead of us, and we have to stay focused on what we want to accomplish in March.

Gonzaga coach Mark Few praised his teams resilience and mental toughness after the victory, noting that maintaining focus throughout an undefeated season required exceptional leadership and character from his veteran players. Drew was fantastic tonight, but this was a complete team effort, Few said. To go undefeated in the regular season is extremely difficult, and Im proud of how these guys handled the pressure and expectations all year long.

Saint Marys, led by senior guard Logan Johnson 25 points and 7 assists, pushed Gonzaga to the brink throughout the second half and briefly took the lead with four minutes remaining before the Bulldogs experience and depth proved decisive. The Gaels fought valiantly but ultimately could not match Gonzaga superior talent and execution in the crucial final minutes.

The victory secures Gonzaga the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, though they were already guaranteed a No. 1 seed based on their perfect record and impressive resume that includes victories over Duke, Kentucky, and Kansas during their nonconference schedule. The Bulldogs will enter the tournament as heavy favorites to reach their second Final Four in program history.

With March Madness just days away, Gonzaga perfect season has captured the imagination of college basketball fans nationwide and created enormous expectations for a program that has become synonymous with excellence. Whether they can maintain their perfection through six more games remains to be seen, but Friday victory proved they have the talent and composure necessary to achieve something truly special.
