Dodgers Newcomer Shohei Ohtani Hits First Spring Training Home Run in Spectacular Fashion

Shohei Ohtani wasted no time making his mark in Dodger Blue, launching his first spring training home run as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers in spectacular fashion during Sunday's 7-4 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Camelback Ranch. The 450-foot moonshot to dead center field sent the sellout crowd into a frenzy and provided a glimpse of what's to come in 2026.

Ohtani, who signed a record-breaking 10-year, $700 million contract with the Dodgers in December, stepped into the batter's box in the third inning facing Diamondbacks starter Zac Gallen. On a 2-1 fastball, the Japanese superstar turned on the pitch and sent it soaring over the center field wall and into the parking lot beyond.

"It felt great to connect like that in my first game wearing this uniform," Ohtani said through his interpreter after the game. "The energy from the fans was incredible, and I'm excited to be part of this organization. This is just the beginning."

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was impressed with Ohtani's debut performance, which also included a stolen base and two runs scored. "That's vintage Shohei right there," Roberts said.
