Leeds Rhinos score 12 tries in 66-16 rout of York to reclaim Super League lead
Leeds Rhinos returned to the top of the Super League table with a 12-try demolition of York Knights. Riley Lumb scored a hat-trick as Leeds won 66-16 and moved ahead of Wigan on points difference.

Leeds Rhinos returned to the top of the Super League table with a 66-16 victory over York Knights, scoring 12 tries in a commanding response to their previous defeat by Leigh. BBC Sport reported that winger Riley Lumb completed a hat-trick as Leeds produced a dominant attacking display at AMT Headingley Rugby Stadium.

Watch the highlights:

Leeds established control immediately and carried a 36-0 lead into halftime. Lumb opened the scoring with two early tries, first finishing after Ryan Hall intercepted and launched a counterattack, then beating Jon Bennison to the ball for his second. Lumb also supplied Chris Hankinson for Leeds' third try after Ash Handley created the opening.

Kallum Watkins collected a loose ball following a Lachie Miller kick to add the fourth try, before Mikolaj Oledzki powered through three York defenders. Cameron Smith then worked through the defence and found Miller for the sixth score of the opening half. York briefly thought Sam Wood had scored, but the try was disallowed for obstruction against Watkins.

Matthew Lodge marked his Leeds debut with a close-range try after the interval. Wood then put York on the board by beating Brodie Croft to a high ball, but Leeds continued to score. Hall crossed for his ninth try of the season after a Miller pass, and Lumb completed his hat-trick before Croft, Handley and Hankinson added further tries.

Bennison and David Nofoaluma scored late tries for York, who suffered a record defeat against their Yorkshire rivals. The Knights remain 12th in the standings, while Leeds moved above Wigan Warriors on points difference. BBC Sport listed Leeds' scorers as Lumb, Hankinson, Watkins, Oledzki, Miller, Lodge, Hall, Croft and Handley.

Leeds head coach Brad Arthur told BBC Radio Leeds that his side had not expected to score 66 points, but he was pleased with its intent and mentality after the loss to Leigh. York coach Mark Applegarth told BBC Radio York that his team had learned harsh lessons, identifying composure in possession and control around the ruck as areas that must improve against leading opponents.
