Iga Swiatek Defeats Elena Rybakina 6-3, 6-2 to Win Indian Wells Women's Final
The world No. 1 captured her second Indian Wells title with a dominant straight-sets victory over the Kazakhstani in the BNP Paribas Open final.

Iga Swiatek reminded everyone why she's the world's top-ranked player Tuesday evening at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, delivering a masterful 6-3, 6-2 victory over Elena Rybakina to capture her second BNP Paribas Open title in commanding fashion.

The 24-year-old Polish star was in complete control from the opening game, using her superior court coverage and tactical awareness to neutralize Rybakina's powerful serve and aggressive baseline game. Swiatek consistently found angles and depth that troubled the Kazakhstani throughout the 87-minute encounter.

"I felt really confident out there tonight," Swiatek said during the trophy ceremony. "Elena is such a dangerous player with that big serve and power, but I was able to stay patient and wait for my opportunities. This title means so much because the level here is always incredibly high."

Swiatek broke serve early in both sets and never faced a break point herself, showcasing the consistency and mental toughness that has made her such a dominant force in women's tennis. Her serving was particularly impressive, winning 79% of points on her first serve while keeping Rybakina off balance with well-placed second serves.

The victory was Swiatek's 19th WTA title and her third this season, extending her remarkable run of form that has seen her win 23 of her last 25 matches. Her combination of power, precision, and court craft continues to set her apart from the rest of the women's field.

Rybakina, seeking her fourth title of 2026, fought hard but struggled to find her rhythm against Swiatek's relentless pressure and defensive skills. The 2022 Wimbledon champion's serve, normally her biggest weapon, was neutralized by Swiatek's excellent return positioning and anticipation.

With the Indian Wells title secured, Swiatek will head to the Miami Open as the overwhelming favorite to complete the "Sunshine Double" for the first time in her career. Her current form suggests she's ready to dominate the remainder of the hard-court season before transitioning to her preferred clay courts.
