Virat Kohli Scores Magnificent Century as India Crushes England by 8 Wickets
Former captain's unbeaten 134 guides India to emphatic ODI victory in Chennai, taking 2-0 series lead.

Virat Kohli rolled back the years with a sublime unbeaten 134, guiding India to a comprehensive eight-wicket victory over England in the second ODI at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday.

The 37-year-old batting maestro was in vintage form, striking 14 boundaries and two sixes in his 112-ball innings as India successfully chased down England's total of 287 with nearly five overs to spare. Kohli's century was his 46th in ODI cricket, moving him within three of Sachin Tendulkar's all-time record.

"It feels amazing to score a hundred in front of the Chennai crowd," Kohli said at the presentation ceremony. "The wicket was playing beautifully, and I just tried to bat positively from ball one. When you're in that kind of rhythm, everything feels possible."

England had posted what appeared to be a competitive total thanks to Joe Root's patient 89 and Harry Brook's explosive 67. The visitors looked well-placed at 220-3 in the 40th over before India's spinners, led by Kuldeep Yadav's 4-52, triggered a middle-order collapse that saw England lose their last seven wickets for just 67 runs.

India's chase began cautiously with captain Rohit Sharma falling early for 18, but Kohli found the perfect partner in Shubman Gill, who contributed a mature 73 not out. The pair added an unbroken 201-run partnership that systematically dismantled England's bowling attack, with both batsmen finding the boundary regularly against pace and spin alike.

The victory gives India an unassailable 2-0 lead in the five-match series and continues their dominant home form across all formats. For England, the loss highlights their ongoing struggles in subcontinental conditions, particularly against quality spin bowling. With Kohli in this kind of form and India's bowling attack firing on all cylinders, the remaining matches promise to be challenging for the visitors as they attempt to salvage some pride from the tour.
