Xander Schauffele Leads Honda Classic by Three Shots After Stunning 64
Olympic gold medalist shoots bogey-free round at PGA National to take commanding lead heading into final round.

Xander Schauffele fired a bogey-free 8-under 64 on Sunday to take a commanding three-shot lead heading into the final round of the Honda Classic at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

The Olympic gold medalist was in complete control throughout his third round, making eight birdies on the notoriously difficult Champion Course while never facing serious trouble. Schauffele's precision with his irons and putting stroke were particularly impressive on a layout that typically punishes even the smallest mistakes.

"I felt really comfortable out there today," Schauffele said after signing his scorecard. "The conditions were perfect, and I was seeing the lines on the greens really well. This golf course demands respect, so to go bogey-free is really satisfying. But there's still 18 holes left, and this place can bite you quickly."

Schauffele's 64 matched the lowest round of the week and moved him to 12-under par for the tournament, three shots clear of Colombia's Sebastian Munoz and England's Tyrrell Hatton, who are tied for second at 9-under. Defending champion Sungjae Im sits alone in fourth place at 8-under after shooting a solid 69.

The 30-year-old Californian has been one of the most consistent players on Tour over the past several seasons, but he's still seeking his breakthrough PGA Tour victory. His last win came at the 2022 Travelers Championship, and he's eager to end that drought at one of golf's more challenging venues.

With favorable weather conditions expected for Monday's final round, Schauffele will need to maintain his precision and composure to claim his sixth PGA Tour title. His recent form has been encouraging, with three top-10 finishes in his last four starts. The Honda Classic represents an excellent opportunity for Schauffele to build momentum heading into the Florida Swing's marquee events and position himself for a strong Masters campaign in April.
