Flemming strikes late as Ipswich beat ten-man Crystal Palace 3-2

Zian Flemming scored a 90th-minute winner as Ipswich Town defeated Crystal Palace 3-2 at Selhurst Park on Saturday. Palace's official match feed confirmed the substitute's late goal after the hosts had recovered from a first-half red card to draw level.

Anan Khalaili opened the scoring after 14 minutes, with Daichi Kamada providing the assist. Emersonn equalised nine minutes later, heading in Leif Davis's cross. Palace then lost Axel Disasi, who was sent off in the 34th minute following a challenge on Jack Clarke.

Davis headed Ipswich ahead in the 45th minute, leaving Palace a goal down at half-time. Jørgen Strand Larsen restored parity after 75 minutes from another Kamada assist. Khalaili subsequently missed a close-range opportunity that could have put the home side back in front.

Flemming, who had replaced Emersonn in the 63rd minute, decided the contest after a Davis header struck the woodwork. He finished from close range to give Ipswich all three points despite Palace's second-half recovery.

The victory followed consecutive league defeats for Gary O'Neil's side. FBref's season results record a 5-2 loss at Manchester United and a 2-0 home defeat by Liverpool before this trip to south London. Ipswich had begun their league campaign with a 2-1 home win against Sunderland and also beaten Leicester City 3-1 in the League Cup. Saturday's result therefore restored their winning momentum in the league after two matches in which they had conceded seven goals. Those defeats had left Ipswich with three points from their opening three Premier League fixtures.

For Palace, the defeat followed a comeback victory of their own. The club's report of last weekend's 3-2 win at Fulham recorded two equalisers from Tyrick Mitchell before Ben Chilwell supplied the deciding goal. That result had given Pierre Sage his first Premier League win with Palace, with Chilwell scoring on his return to the club. The Guardian reported that O'Neil had previously taken only one point from five managerial visits to Palace.
