Top Quarterback Prospects Shine at NFL Scouting Combine
Three signal-callers post impressive numbers as teams evaluate potential franchise players ahead of April draft.

The 2026 NFL Scouting Combine got off to an electrifying start in Indianapolis as the top quarterback prospects in this year draft class showcased their skills in front of representatives from all 32 teams. Georgia Carson Beck, Texas Quinn Ewers, and Alabama Jalen Milroe all delivered strong performances that should solidify their positions as potential first-round selections.

Beck, widely considered the top quarterback available, impressed scouts with his arm strength and accuracy during throwing drills. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound senior completed 28 of 30 passes in structured drills and demonstrated the pocket presence that helped him lead Georgia to a playoff appearance this past season. His 40-yard dash time of 4.68 seconds was respectable for a quarterback of his size, though his performance in interviews and on the whiteboard sessions may prove more valuable for teams evaluating his football IQ.

Carson has all the physical tools you want in a franchise quarterback, said one NFC general manager who requested anonymity. His college production speaks for itself, but what we are really looking for here is how he processes information under pressure and his leadership qualities. So far, he is checking all the boxes.

Ewers turned heads with his mobility, running a surprising 4.55-second 40-yard dash that showcased athleticism many scouts did not expect from the former five-star recruit. The Texas product has dealt with injury concerns during his college career, but his medical evaluations at the combine have reportedly come back clean, potentially boosting his draft stock significantly.

Milroe dual-threat ability was on full display as he recorded the fastest 40-yard dash among quarterbacks at 4.42 seconds. The Alabama standout rushing ability adds a dynamic element that several teams are coveting in today NFL, where mobile quarterbacks have found considerable success. His passing accuracy during drills was solid, though some evaluators noted he will need to continue refining his pocket passing skills at the next level.

With several teams in need of quarterback help, including the New England Patriots, Washington Commanders, and Las Vegas Raiders picking early in the first round, the strong showing from this year quarterback class could lead to multiple signal-callers being selected in the top 10. The combine continues through Sunday with position-specific drills and additional measurements that could further impact draft boards across the league.
