Born in Pune in 2000, Malhotra grew up during the emergence of women's cricket in India, inspired by pioneers who fought for recognition and opportunity in a male-dominated sporting landscape.

Malhotra's cricket journey began at age 10 when her father, a club-level cricketer, enrolled her in a local academy despite resistance from family members who questioned the viability of women's cricket as a career.
