Wrexham Complete Permanent Signing of Callum O'Hare

Wrexham have completed the permanent signing of attacking midfielder Callum O'Hare from Championship rivals Sheffield United. The move was confirmed on transfer deadline day, with the 28-year-old agreeing a three-year contract that includes an option for a further season. Both clubs described the transfer fee as undisclosed.

BBC Sport reported that the deal was believed to be worth close to £6.5 million, while other outlets placed the figure at about £7 million. Because neither club published a price, the final value has not been independently confirmed. The completed transfer followed reports earlier on Tuesday that Wrexham and Sheffield United had reached an agreement and that O'Hare was undergoing a medical.

O'Hare arrives after two full seasons at Bramall Lane. Sheffield United signed him as a free agent in July 2024, handing him a four-year contract after his departure from Coventry City. He had already appeared in all three of the Blades' Championship matches this season and scored once, according to Sky Sports' player record.

The midfielder previously spent four years as a permanent Coventry player after initially joining the club on loan from Aston Villa in August 2019. BBC Sport recorded 22 goals in 182 appearances for Coventry across all competitions. His time there also included the club's run to the 2024 FA Cup semi-finals, which ended with a penalty-shootout defeat by Manchester United at Wembley.

Wrexham's agreement gives manager Phil Parkinson another experienced Championship option between midfield and attack. The club's deadline-day business also included the signing of defender Joe Worrall from Burnley. Field Level Media reported that both players joined for undisclosed fees, with Worrall receiving a two-year contract plus an option for another year.

O'Hare moves directly between two clubs competing in the same division, so he will remain in the Championship rather than needing to adjust to a new league. His departure also leaves Sheffield United without a player who had featured throughout the opening weeks of the campaign. Wrexham, meanwhile, have secured him beyond the current season and can extend the agreement by an additional year if the club takes up its option.
