West Brom Cruise to Comfortable Victory Over Watford in Midlands Derby
West Bromwich Albion produced a dominant second-half display to ease past Watford, securing a crucial three points in their push for a playoff finish.

West Bromwich Albion delivered a clinical performance to defeat Watford 3-1 at The Hawthorns on Tuesday, a result that moves the Baggies within touching distance of the Championship playoff places. The victory was built on a dominant second-half showing that saw goals from Brandon Thomas-Asante, Jayson Molumby, and Callum Styles cancel out Watford's early opener.

The Hornets had taken a surprise lead through a stunning long-range effort from Emmanuel Latte Lath in the 22nd minute, leaving the home crowd stunned. However, Carlos Corberán's side responded emphatically, controlling possession and creating numerous chances throughout the remainder of the match.

Thomas-Asante equaliser on the stroke of halftime proved the turning point. The former MK Dons forward latched onto a through ball from Molumby and finished coolly past Daniel Bachmann. Molumby then added his name to the scoresheet with a header from a corner kick in the 68th minute before Styles completed the scoring with a rasping drive from the edge of the area.

West Brom manager Corberán praised his side's reaction to going behind. 'The players showed tremendous character to come back after that early setback. We knew Watford would be dangerous on the counter-attack, but our response was exactly what we needed.' The Spanish coach also highlighted the importance of the result ahead of a crucial run of fixtures. 'This gives us real momentum. We're building something here and the boys are believing in what we're trying to achieve.'

The victory sends West Brom up to ninth place in the Championship table, just four points behind sixth-placed Coventry City with three games in hand. Watford, meanwhile, remain in 12th place and now face an uphill battle to force their way back into playoff contention with the season approaching its climax.
