Wardley urges Dubois to 'get stuck straight into a firefight'

British heavyweight Josh Wardley has issued a bold challenge to Daniel Dubois, urging his compatriot to abandon any defensive tactics and instead 'get stuck straight into a firefight' when they collide in what promises to be an explosive domestic showdown.

The pair, both haailing from London, have been on collision course for months, with trading barbs intensifying in recent weeks. Wardley, known for his aggressive pressure-fighting style, believes the bout will deliver exactly what British boxing fans crave.

'Dubois needs to come forward and fight,' Wardley said during a press conference. 'None of that holding back, none of that waiting. We need to get in there and straight into a firefight. That's what the fans want to see.'

Dubois, who claimed the IBF heavyweight title earlier this year, has faced criticism for his cautious approach in previous fights. However, Wardley dismisses any suggestion that his opponent will adopt a conservative game plan.

'He knows he can't just jab and move with me,' Wardley added. 'I've got too much power, too much pressure. He's going to have to stand and trade, and that's when I'll take him apart.'

The fight, scheduled for May 15 at the O2 Arena in London, will see both fighters putting undefeated records on the line. Wardley enters with a perfect 18-0 record, with 17 of those wins coming by knockout.

Dubois' promoter responded to Wardley's comments, stating that the champion is 'ready to prove he's the real deal' and dismissed Wardley as 'another opponent who will fall short on the big stage.'

Tickets for the highly anticipated bout are expected to sell out within hours of going on general sale next week.
