Undefeated UFC Phenom Donte Johnson Relocates to Las Vegas as Hometown Sends Off Its Pride
Fond du Lac's Donte Johnson, a perfect 8-0 in his professional MMA career, is leaving Wisconsin for Las Vegas to be closer to UFC headquarters, fresh off becoming the first fighter to compete on a national CBS broadcast.

Donte Johnson's hometown of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin said goodbye to its rising UFC star this weekend as the undefeated lightweight prepares to relocate to Las Vegas, the sport's spiritual home and headquarters of the UFC.

Johnson, a 2017 graduate of Fond du Lac High School, earned his UFC contract on the Contender Series last summer and has since blazed through the competition with an immaculate 8-0 professional record. His rapid ascent has made him one of the fastest-rising stars in the sport, and his recent appearance on a national CBS broadcast in March made him the first fighter in history to compete on that stage.

Friends, family, and fans gathered at the Fond du Lac Beer Company on Friday evening to honor Johnson before his cross-country move. The event drew a large crowd of supporters eager to celebrate one of their own before he embarks on the next chapter of his career in Nevada.

Speaking with Local 5 Sports, Johnson reflected on his whirlwind journey from Wisconsin to the world's premier MMA promotion. It has been incredible, Johnson said. Every fight, every moment, I try to take it all in because I know how rare this is. Not many people get to do what I do, and I do not take that for granted.

The decision to move to Las Vegas places Johnson at the heart of UFC's training ecosystem, giving him access to world-class facilities, sparring partners, and the promotional infrastructure that shapes championship contenders. The city has long served as the gathering point for elite fighters, many of whom relocate there to fine-tune their craft alongside the best in the world.

Johnson's rise has been defined by clinical efficiency inside the cage. All eight of his professional victories have come inside the distance, showcasing a finishing ability that has impressed UFC matchmakers. His most recent performance on the national CBS broadcast drew particular attention, with commentators highlighting his technical precision and composure under the brightest lights.

UFC President and CEO Dana White, who personally awarded Johnson his contract on the Contender Series, has publicly praised the young fighter's potential. Industry observers have begun speculating about potential matchups once Johnson establishes himself in his new Las Vegas base.

For now, Johnson remains focused on the journey ahead. I am going to Vegas to work, he said. Everything else will take care of itself.

Johnson is expected to make his Las Vegas debut at a UFC event in the coming months, with his team indicating a targeted summer return to the cage.
