UCLA Holds Firm at No. 1 as Georgia Tech Surges Into Top Two in College Baseball Rankings
The Bruins remain unbeaten at the top of the USA TODAY Super 16 rankings while Georgia Tech climbs to No. 2 after a sweep of Florida State, reshaping the national baseball landscape heading into a pivotal weekend.

The top of college baseball remains UCLA’s world to lose. The Bruins held steady at No. 1 in the latest USA TODAY Network Super 16 rankings, posted Tuesday, with a pristine 33-2 record that continues to make them the standard-bearer for the nation’s collegiate game.

But the real movement this week came from Atlanta. Georgia Tech surged to No. 2 after sweeping Florida State on the road, improving to 30-5 and displacing Texas, which drops to third at 27-5. The Yellow Jackets’ climb signals something significant: the ACC is producing multiple legitimate national title contenders, and Georgia Tech iselas no longer flying under the radar.

The most anticipated matchup of the coming weekend has Georgia Tech traveling to face No. 4 North Carolina (30-6-1) in what amounts to a de facto top-five showdown. Both programs enter riding impressive momentum, and with postseason positioning on the line, expect a fierce back-and-forth series that could reshape the bracket picture.

Further down the rankings, Texas A&M turned heads by taking its series against in-state rival Texas, a result that boosted the Aggies to a tie for sixth at 27-7. Florida also made noise, upsetting Georgia — ranked fifth at 30-8 — and climbing to No. 13 with a 27-10 record. The Gators’ victory over the Bulldogs was fueled by strong pitching, shutting down Georgia’s high-powered offense in a statement win.

Tennessee also delivered a surprising result, sweeping Mississippi State and pushing the Bulldogs down to No. 16 despite a 26-10 record. The Volunteers’ recent surge has them knocking on the door of the rankings themselves.

In the SEC, this weekend brings Alabama against Texas in a critical bounce-back series for both programs. Georgia faces Arkansas in a tricky road test, while Florida hosts Auburn in a matchup that could further shuffle the middle of the national picture. USC squares off against Nebraska in a non-conference clash with tournament implications.

Southern Miss continues to hold steady at No. 14 with a 25-11 record, while West Virginia rounds out the top 16 at 24-8. Oregon dropped out of the rankings after a tough stretch, replaced by the emergence of new contenders hungry for a spot among the nation’s elite.

With conference play intensifying and the calendar pushing toward postseason selections, the race for national seeding is far from settled. UCLA may sit atop the mountain, but the mountain is getting crowded.
