Tresoldi hat-trick lifts Club Brugge to 4-3 victory at Inter
Nicolo Tresoldi scored three times as Club Brugge won at San Siro. Inter remain without a point after two Champions League games.

Nicolo Tresoldi scored a hat-trick as Club Brugge defeated Inter 4-3 at San Siro on Tuesday, leaving the Italian side without a point after two Champions League matches. Football Italia reported that Romeo Vermant supplied Brugge's fourth goal before Ange-Yoan Bonny scored in stoppage time for the hosts.

Watch the highlights:

Brugge goalkeeper Yann Sommer faced early pressure on his return to his former club, while Marcus Thuram sent an effort narrowly wide. At the other end, Tresoldi hit the woodwork before getting his opening goal from the penalty spot. Carlos Forbs had carried the ball from deep inside his own half before Hakan Calhanoglu brought him down in Inter's area.

Calhanoglu subsequently struck the crossbar, and Lautaro Martinez had a headed finish disallowed for offside. Inter did draw level before half-time, however. Thuram's work down the left and a Federico Dimarco flick created the opening for Martinez, who turned his defender and finished. Sommer later denied the Argentina forward with his foot as Inter sought to move ahead.

Tresoldi instead restored Brugge's advantage in the 63rd minute, finishing into an unguarded net after Forbs reached a forward ball ahead of goalkeeper Josep Martinez. Jan Virgili then struck the post. Tresoldi completed his treble in the 74th minute by reacting to a save from Forbs, putting the visitors 3-1 ahead with just over a quarter of an hour remaining.

Lautaro Martinez pulled Inter back into contention in the 81st minute after Sommer saved from Petar Sucic. But Forbs set up Vermant for Brugge's fourth in the 87th minute, restoring the two-goal margin. Bonny cut inside from the left and curled in Inter's third during added time, leaving the hosts one goal short despite their late response.

Flashscore reported that the victory delivered Brugge's first points of this Champions League campaign in the clubs' first meeting. For Inter, the result extended their losing sequence in the competition to four matches, a first in the club's history. It was also their first home defeat by Belgian opposition in 56 years, according to the report.
