Tottenham Double Winner Terry Dyson Dies at 91
Former Tottenham winger Terry Dyson, a member of the club's 1960-61 Double-winning team, has died aged 91. He made 209 appearances during a decade with Spurs.

Former Tottenham Hotspur winger Terry Dyson, who helped the club win the league and FA Cup Double in 1960-61, has died at the age of 91. Tottenham confirmed his death on Thursday, according to reporting by PA Media published by The Guardian. The club said it was deeply saddened and offered condolences to Dyson's family and friends.

Watch the highlights:

Dyson spent 10 years with Tottenham, making 209 appearances and scoring 55 goals. The Yorkshire-born winger became part of one of the most celebrated teams in the club's history under manager Bill Nicholson, contributing during a season in which Spurs became the first English side in the 20th century to complete the First Division and FA Cup Double.

His role in that achievement extended to the FA Cup final itself. Tottenham's tribute noted that Dyson scored in the final as the club completed the Double in 1961. The club described him as a key member of that side, placing his contribution at the center of a landmark campaign.

Dyson also made a decisive impact in European competition two years later. He scored twice when Tottenham beat Atletico Madrid 5-1 to win the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1963. That victory added another major honor to his Tottenham career and supplied one of the standout performances of his time with the club.

Another distinction came in the north London derby. Dyson remains the only Tottenham player to have scored a hat-trick against Arsenal, achieving the feat at the start of the 1961-62 season. In a 2020 recollection reported by The Guardian, he acknowledged that one of the goals followed the ball striking his hand before he finished. He described the hat-trick as comprising a header and goals with each foot.

After his distinguished Tottenham spell, Dyson also played for Fulham, Colchester and Guildford. His record with Spurs encompasses domestic and European success as well as a derby feat that no other player at the club has matched, according to the report. Tottenham's announcement focused on his place in the Double-winning team and the loss felt by those close to him.
