Tottenham Agree Omar Marmoush Loan With £60m Purchase Obligation

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a loan deal for Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush that includes an obligation to buy him for £60 million next summer, according to BBC Sport. The agreement would take the Egypt international across the Premier League after a season and a half at the Etihad Stadium, where regular starting opportunities were limited by competition in City's attack.

Marmoush, 27, joined Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59 million in January. BBC Sport reports that he has scored 16 goals in 62 appearances across all competitions for the club. Much of his time in Manchester was spent behind Erling Haaland in the selection order, despite Marmoush's ability to operate in several attacking positions.

His involvement at the start of the new campaign also pointed to a reduced role. Marmoush came on during the second half of City's 3-0 Community Shield defeat by Arsenal, then remained an unused substitute when City opened their Premier League season with a 2-1 home victory over Bournemouth on Saturday.

During the 2025-26 season, Marmoush scored eight times in 36 appearances in all competitions. His league workload was more restricted: he started eight Premier League matches and played about 700 minutes. He recorded three league goals and three assists, while his expected-goals figure was 3.53, suggesting his limited scoring total broadly reflected the chances that came his way rather than a major finishing shortfall.

The proposed move continues an exceptionally active transfer window for Tottenham. BBC Sport says Spurs have spent more than £312 million this summer. They signed Brazilian forward Savio from City on Tuesday for an initial £75 million, while Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali and Jan Paul van Hecke have also arrived for fees. Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka joined on free transfers.

Marmoush would add options to a Tottenham attack in which Dominic Solanke has dealt with injury problems over the past 18 months and Richarlison has entered the final year of his contract. Although chiefly a centre-forward, Marmoush has also played as a second striker, from the left and behind another forward at Frankfurt and City. That versatility could give manager Roberto de Zerbi another player capable of moving between central and wide roles as Tottenham reshape their squad.
