Tottenham Advance Iliman Ndiaye Talks as Richarlison Nears Everton Return

Tottenham are in advanced talks with Everton over a move for Iliman Ndiaye, while Richarlison could return to Goodison Park through separate negotiations between the clubs. BBC Sport reports that the framework for Ndiaye's transfer is largely agreed, but the Senegal forward has not yet committed to the move.

Ndiaye, 26, joined Everton from Marseille in 2024. According to the BBC, Everton are willing to sell after he rejected several contract offers and held talks with Saudi club Al-Hilal earlier in the summer. Manchester City have also expressed interest, leaving Ndiaye's final destination unresolved despite the progress made by Tottenham.

Richarlison's proposed move is being handled independently rather than as a direct swap. BBC Sport says Everton have agreed terms in principle to re-sign the Brazil striker, who is in the final year of his Tottenham contract. Spurs head coach Roberto de Zerbi said after Saturday's 2-0 home defeat by Newcastle that Richarlison had repeatedly told him he wanted to leave.

The 29-year-old joined Tottenham from Everton in 2022 and scored 11 goals to finish as the club's leading scorer last season. He helped Spurs secure Premier League survival on the final day, but was left out of the squad against Newcastle. Kevin Danso and Pape Matar Sarr, two other players De Zerbi said had asked to leave, were also absent.

Tottenham have spent more than £300 million on eight first-team additions this summer, including a loan move for Manchester City striker Omar Marmoush. Marmoush started in Richarlison's place against Newcastle. Spurs have nevertheless opened the league season with defeats by Brentford and Newcastle, have yet to score, and sit bottom of the table.

For Everton, Richarlison would provide competition for first-choice striker Thierno Barry while Beto's future remains uncertain. The club are also pursuing a second loan for Manchester City's Jack Grealish and have reopened talks over Fulham right-back Kenny Tete, according to the BBC. With the transfer deadline on Tuesday, neither Ndiaye's move nor Richarlison's return should be treated as complete until the remaining agreements and player decisions are settled.
