Torino Complete Permanent Signing of Nathan Patterson From Everton

Torino have completed the permanent signing of Scotland right-back Nathan Patterson from Everton. Both clubs confirmed the move on September 1, with Everton saying the fee was undisclosed and Torino announcing that it had acquired the player's registration outright.

BBC Sport reported the completed transfer shortly after the deadline-day agreement was finalized. Everton thanked Patterson for his commitment during four and a half seasons with the club, while Torino welcomed him to their squad ahead of the next stage of the Serie A campaign. Neither club disclosed the length of his contract in its announcement.

Patterson, 24, joined Everton from Rangers in January 2022. Torino's official account of his career says he made 68 appearances for Everton across the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup, recording three assists. His time in England included spells in and out of the side, but the confirmed announcements did not give a reason for the transfer.

The defender came through Rangers' youth system and made his senior debut in a Scottish Cup match against Stranraer in January 2020. According to Torino, he played 27 times for Rangers across domestic and European competitions, scoring twice and supplying one assist. He was also part of the Rangers squad that won the Scottish league title in the 2020-21 season.

At international level, Torino listed Patterson with 29 Scotland appearances and one goal at the time of the transfer. The club also noted that he featured in all three of Scotland's group matches at the 2026 World Cup, against Haiti, Morocco and Brazil. Those appearances added tournament experience to his record before the move to Italy.

The deal takes Patterson from English football to Serie A on a permanent basis, giving Torino another option on the right side of defence. For Everton, it closes the full-back's spell on Merseyside more than four years after his arrival. The financial terms remain private, and no further conditions were confirmed in the clubs' public statements.
