Titans agree Jeffery Simmons trade to Bears for two first-round picks
The Tennessee Titans have agreed to trade defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears, with two first-round draft selections forming the centrepiece of the return. In a report published on the team's website on October 29, Tennessee said the clubs had agreed terms that morning, pending a physical.
Watch the highlights:
Tennessee will receive Chicago's first-round picks in 2027 and 2028, along with a fourth-round selection in 2027. The Bears will get Simmons and a fifth-round pick in 2028. NFL.com also reported those terms, which give the Titans three incoming selections across the next two drafts.
Simmons leaves a significant leadership role in Tennessee. The Titans selected him in the first round of the 2019 draft, and the club said he had earned four Pro Bowl selections and served as a team captain five times during his tenure.
NFL.com reported that Simmons posted a career-best 11 sacks in 2025, earning his first first-team All-Pro selection as well as his fourth Pro Bowl appearance. That season was followed by a three-year contract extension worth $105.8 million, according to the same report.
The move brings the 29-year-old to a Chicago team with a 5-2 record. According to UPI, the Bears' defense ranked eighth in yards allowed per game through seven weeks, third against the run and 18th against the pass. Chicago was also ninth in points allowed per game over that period.
Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk thanked Simmons for his contribution to the team and the wider community in a statement accompanying the announcement. She highlighted his leadership and the work of his Give 'Em A Reason Foundation in Middle Tennessee and Mississippi, alongside his performances on the field.
The teams face different immediate schedules as the agreement awaits completion. Tennessee, at 1-6, is due to visit the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, while Chicago plays at the Seattle Seahawks on Monday, UPI reported. The Titans' announcement confirmed the physical requirement but did not specify when that step would be completed.
