Tim Tebow has suspended his relationship with Life Surge while his team examines allegations about the Christian organization's sales practices, The Guardian reported. The 2007 Heisman Trophy winner announced the pause on Friday, saying he needed more information before deciding how to proceed with a group whose events he has addressed.

Tebow, now a college football analyst on ESPN's SEC Nation, spoke on campus before Saturday's Mississippi-Florida game at Florida Field. He described the allegations as serious and said his team was conducting an internal investigation. His announcement was a pause in the relationship while facts were reviewed, rather than a declaration that the allegations had been established.

The questions followed an investigation by the Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast, which examined Life Surge and focused in part on Tebow's speaking appearances. According to The Guardian, the podcast also raised questions about what Tebow knew of the organization's practices. Tebow said the reporting had surprised him when his team brought it to his attention after an anti-human-trafficking conference on Thursday.

Life Surge stages around 30 events a year and uses prominent Christian speakers, including Tebow, to headline its gatherings, the report said. According to the podcast's findings, as relayed by The Guardian, people attending the organization's one-day events are encouraged to enroll in additional classes. Those classes then promote packages priced between $10,000 and $40,000, putting the sales process at the center of the allegations.

The podcast further alleged that attendees unable to afford the packages are connected with outside lenders who encourage credit-card applications or home-equity borrowing. The allegations concern whether those sales methods exploit participants' religious beliefs and financial insecurity. Life Surge has denied wrongdoing, according to the podcast as cited by The Guardian; the claims remain allegations rather than findings announced by Tebow's team.

Addressing followers, Tebow said his purpose in appearing at the events had been to share his Christian faith. He stressed the need to understand the details and obtain answers. For now, his stated response is to suspend the association while his team investigates, with the organization's denial also part of the public account.
