Thiago seals Brentford win as Nottingham Forest fail to convert chances
Brentford beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 through a Nikola Milenkovic own goal and Igor Thiago’s second-half finish. Forest managed only one shot on target from 15 attempts.

Brentford defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0 at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday, taking the lead through a Nikola Milenkovic own goal before Igor Thiago added the second. The result marked Brentford's 100th Premier League match at the ground with a victory, according to West London Sport, while Forest were left to regret another afternoon of missed opportunities.

Watch the highlights:

Forest threatened before the hosts found their rhythm, with Liam Delap sending an early close-range effort over the bar. Brentford moved ahead in the 30th minute when Dango Ouattara's delivery from the right struck Milenkovic and went past Matz Sels. West London Sport reported that the defender was positioned at the near post when the cross was diverted into his own net.

Mathias Jensen came close to extending the advantage before half-time, striking the crossbar from a free-kick. Forest remained within one goal at the interval and had further opportunities after the restart. Ryan Yates, introduced at half-time, headed over, leaving the visitors unable to turn their attacking spells into an equaliser, as The Guardian's match report described.

The decisive second goal arrived in the 76th minute. Substitute Jaidon Anthony advanced down the right and supplied Thiago, who finished from close range. Sofascore's account traced the move through Vitaly Janelt and Aaron Hickey before Anthony received the ball, highlighting the speed of the attack as Brentford punished Forest while the visitors were pressing to get back into the match.

The shooting figures underlined Forest's difficulty in converting possession into clear danger. Both Sofascore and the Irish Examiner recorded 15 Forest attempts but only one on target. Sofascore also put their possession at 58 percent, with eight shots off target and six blocked. That left Caoimhin Kelleher with just one save to make despite the visitors' greater volume of attempts.

The Irish Examiner reported that Oliver Glasner's team remained in the bottom three and had scored only six league goals this season. For Brentford, the victory offered a response to their midweek Carabao Cup elimination by Sunderland, noted by West London Sport. Forest's failure to score again meant their efforts between the penalty areas brought no reward on the scoreboard.
