Terland's late derby equaliser leaves Manchester City behind Chelsea
Elisabeth Terland scored an 89th-minute equaliser to earn Manchester United a 1-1 draw against Manchester City in Sunday's Women's Super League derby. Khadija Shaw had put City ahead in the second half at the Progress With Unity Stadium, but the visitors could not protect their advantage through the closing stages.

City's official match report confirmed that the result left them on 19 points, level with Chelsea but second on goal difference. Chelsea had beaten Crystal Palace 3-1 earlier in the day. Both clubs have now recorded six wins and one draw from their opening seven league fixtures, leaving neither with a points advantage at the top.
United had opportunities before the interval without finding a finish. According to The Peoples Person's match report, Andrea Medina and Ella Toone combined to threaten City's defence, while Toone also tested goalkeeper Ayaka Yamashita from outside the penalty area. Terland then failed to make sufficient contact with Medina's delivery after United regained possession high up the pitch.
The hosts threatened again after the restart. Jess Park sent Terland through, only for Yamashita to stop the attempt, and Park subsequently struck the crossbar. Shaw then supplied the breakthrough at the other end, giving City the lead despite the opportunities United had created to go in front themselves.
Julia Zigiotti sent a chance over the bar as United sought a response. The Peoples Person reported that Maya Le Tissier then cleared Grace Clinton's effort off the line in the 86th minute, preventing City from establishing a two-goal cushion. That intervention kept United within reach as the match entered its final minutes.
Le Tissier also contributed to the equaliser, sending the ball into the area before Shaw's defensive header fell to Terland. The striker converted to bring United level. Five minutes of added time produced no further goal, leaving the teams to share the points after City's lead had lasted until the penultimate minute of normal time.
City next turn to European competition, with Paris Saint-Germain visiting on Thursday. The club's report noted that its first two Champions League fixtures had both ended in draws, against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
