Tammy Beaumont signs two-year Blaze extension after trophy treble
Tammy Beaumont has signed a two-year contract extension with The Blaze, keeping the former England opener at Trent Bridge until the end of the 2028 season. The club announced the agreement on 7 October, confirming that the 35-year-old will continue her domestic career after stepping away from international cricket earlier this year.
Watch the highlights:
The deal follows a season in which The Blaze won the T20 Blast, County Cup and One-Day Cup, completing a sweep of the three major competitions, BBC Sport reported. Beaumont contributed more than 900 runs across 35 appearances during that campaign. Her new contract retains a batter who played a substantial part in those successes as the team prepares to defend its trophies.
Beaumont's association with the side extends back to its previous identity as Lightning. Across Lightning and The Blaze, she has accumulated more than 2,600 runs in 78 matches in all formats. In comments published by the club, she described her enthusiasm for another two years with the team and said the treble had been a particular highlight of her time at Trent Bridge.
Her decision to carry on at club level comes after she retired from England duty in July. BBC Sport reported that she finished her international career after 16 years, having appeared in 140 one-day internationals, 109 T20 internationals and 12 Tests. A member of England's 2017 World Cup-winning team, she now continues her playing career without international commitments.
The extension also adds another chapter to a domestic career that began with Kent in May 2007, according to the club announcement. Beaumont spent 12 years representing her home county and also played for Surrey Stars and Southern Vipers in the Kia Super League. Her experience includes spells with three teams in The Hundred and three in Australia's Big Bash League.
Blaze head coach Craig Cumming welcomed both Beaumont's continued availability as a batter and her influence on younger teammates. In the club's announcement, he highlighted the encouragement she offers developing players and said he was excited to have her with the group full-time following her international retirement. Beaumont, meanwhile, said her relationships with teammates, staff and supporters were among the reasons she was pleased to remain.
