Swansea sign Manchester City teenager Jeremy Monga on loan

BBC Sport reports Swansea City have signed teenage winger Jeremy Monga on loan from Manchester City, adding a player with previous Championship experience to head coach Matos's squad. The move comes after Swansea extended their unbeaten start to the league season with a 2-0 victory over Watford on Tuesday night.

Monga developed in Leicester City's academy and made his senior debut at the age of 15 during the 2024-25 top-flight campaign. He went on to feature 30 times for Leicester in the Championship last season before moving to Manchester City this summer on a five-year contract.

The winger also became the youngest goalscorer in Championship history when he found the net against Preston North End in August last year. When City completed his signing, director of football Hugo Viana described Monga as an exciting player and said the teenager had already made significant progress early in his career.

Swansea's head coach said Monga had already collected substantial first-team and Championship experience, while showing confidence and an ability to influence matches at that level. Matos added that Swansea were pleased both the player and Manchester City had selected the Welsh club as the place for the next stage of his development.

There is, however, an administrative step to complete before Monga can make his Swansea debut. BBC Sport reports that, because of his age, he will require a FIFA minor-application exemption before he is eligible to play. Swansea are due to host Welsh rivals Wrexham on Saturday at 20:00 BST, but Monga's availability depends on that process being completed.

The loan gives Swansea another option on the wing after deadline-day departures for two existing wide players did not materialize. Ronald remains at the club after a proposed move to Millwall fell through, while Zeidane Inoussa stayed when a switch to Portsmouth was not completed. Monga now joins that group as Swansea seek to build on their unbeaten opening to the Championship campaign.
