Swansea Agree Jeremy Monga Loan as Leo Walta Nears LA Move

Swansea City have agreed a deal to sign Manchester City winger Jeremy Monga on a season-long loan, according to BBC Sport. The 17-year-old is due to travel to Swansea for a medical before the proposed move can be completed. The Championship club are working to finish the deal before Tuesday's 23:00 BST transfer deadline, so the switch remains subject to that final process.

Monga came through Leicester City's academy and made his senior debut for the club at 15 during the 2024-25 season. He played 30 times in the Championship last season, then joined Manchester City on a five-year contract earlier this summer. BBC Sport notes that he became the Championship's youngest goalscorer when he scored during Leicester's 2-1 defeat by Preston North End in August 2025.

The England Under-19 international would add to a group of new wide players assembled by Swansea this summer. Elijah Just, Moussa Yeo and Joseph Opoku have already joined Vitor Matos' squad. Monga is expected to spend the remainder of the campaign with Swansea if his medical and the remaining formalities are completed.

BBC Sport also reports that Finland international Leo Walta is set to leave Swansea on loan for Major League Soccer side Los Angeles. Walta was not in the matchday squad for Saturday's 3-0 victory at Derby County. The 23-year-old initially arrived from Swedish club Sirius on loan in February before Swansea made the move permanent earlier this summer.

Walta made 10 league appearances in the closing stages of the 2025-26 season and scored his only Swansea goal in a 3-1 win over Charlton Athletic on the final day. This season, he appeared as a late substitute in the 2-1 opening-day win at Stoke City and also came off the bench in the 1-0 EFL Cup defeat by Birmingham City.

The two prospective moves form part of a wider reshaping at Swansea. BBC Sport says the club are also closing in on Huddersfield Town midfielder Tom Iorpenda, having already signed Canada international Stephen Eustaquio from Porto. Swansea have taken seven points from their first three league matches and remain unbeaten in the Championship ahead of Tuesday night's home game against Watford.
