Sunderland stay bottom after goalless draw sends Leeds seventh
Sunderland's league winless run reached six matches after a 0-0 draw with Leeds. Both goalkeepers made important saves in difficult conditions at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland remained bottom of the Premier League after drawing 0-0 with Leeds United at the Stadium of Light on Sunday. Sky Sports reported that the result extended Sunderland's league run without a win to six matches, while Leeds moved into seventh place. Neither side could find a winner in a game affected by strong winds from Storm Boelo.

Watch the highlights:

Brian Brobbey was back in Sunderland's side for his first appearance since September 20 and had a first-half opportunity to put the hosts ahead. James Trafford closed him down and stopped the chance after the striker got through on goal. The Leeds goalkeeper's intervention kept the visitors level as Sunderland sought an end to their winless sequence.

Leeds' official match report recorded further opportunities at both ends. Jayden Bogle shot wide early on, while Luke O'Nien intervened before half-time when Dominic Calvert-Lewin threatened to reach a bouncing ball. After the interval, Gabriel Gudmundsson fired over following a Bogle cross, and Robin Roefs held a header from Tarik Muharemovic at a corner.

Trafford was called into action again when Nilson Angulo tried his luck from distance, diving to keep the effort out. Jaka Bijol also blocked a Chris Rigg attempt. Leeds introduced Anton Stach and Noah Okafor for Harry Wilson and Brenden Aaronson, but still had defensive work to do, with Bijol and Ethan Ampadu blocking further Sunderland shots.

Calvert-Lewin later appealed for a penalty after following up Ao Tanaka's shot. Sky Sports reported that the appeal was rejected and the decision upheld following a VAR check, which found Roefs had touched the ball. Leeds pressed again late on: the club's report said substitute Sean Longstaff forced a save and had another effort strike team-mate Lukas Nmecha, while two Okafor attempts were blocked.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris welcomed the intensity and collective effort of his players and felt they could have earned more. Leeds manager Daniel Farke considered the draw a fair result, pointing to the value of taking a point and keeping a clean sheet away from home in difficult conditions.
