Stephen Eustaquio sent for X-ray after shoulder injury against United States
Canada coach Jesse Marsch said Stephen Eustaquio was undergoing a hospital X-ray after the midfielder hurt his shoulder against the United States. A possible collarbone fracture remained unconfirmed.

Stephen Eustaquio was undergoing a hospital X-ray after hurting his shoulder in Canada's 1-0 friendly defeat by the United States on Tuesday, coach Jesse Marsch said. According to Sportsnet's post-match reporting, Marsch raised the possibility of a broken collarbone but did not confirm a diagnosis following the game at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Watch the highlights:

The 29-year-old midfielder fell heavily after a challenge involving Gio Reyna shortly before halftime. He initially remained on the field, but Mathieu Choinière replaced him at the interval. Sportsnet reported that Canada Soccer confirmed Eustaquio could not continue, ending his involvement with the visitors already trailing to Justin Ellis's first-half goal.

Marsch said Eustaquio had felt a cracking sensation in his shoulder and expressed hope that the injury would not prove serious. His comments described a possible fracture rather than an established medical finding. The report did not provide an X-ray result or a timetable for the midfielder's return to action.

On the pitch, Ellis's 29th-minute finish proved decisive. MLSsoccer.com reported that Alex Freeman combined with Malik Tillman before supplying the ball for the teenager to score. Canada's best opportunity to respond came after halftime, when Luc de Fougerolles met a delivery from Choinière and goalkeeper Brian Schwake touched the effort onto the crossbar.

Schwake finished with three saves in his first start for the United States, according to Field Level Media. Its match report recorded 43 fouls across the two teams, with the Americans responsible for 22 and Canada for 21. Both sides received two yellow cards. The victory completed a four-match winning run for the hosts after earlier successes against Peru, Chile and Mexico.

Canada had entered the match following wins over Chile and Peru. In separate reporting carried by Sportsnet, the Canadian Press said Marsch wanted his team to convert its organised play into more chances and goals. He also challenged players to show greater leadership and take more responsibility with their clubs, making clear that his assessment of the window extended beyond Tuesday's narrow defeat.
