Voting Opens for SouthCoast Early Season Boys Tennis Player of the Year
Nineteen standout players from across the SouthCoast region have been nominated for the 2026 early season boys tennis Player of the Year award, with voting underway through April 19.

The SouthCoast high school boys tennis landscape has been reshaped heading into the 2026 spring season. With none of last year's top eight players returning, teams across the region are turning to a new generation of talent to carry their programs forward.

Nineteen athletes have been identified as players to watch this spring, and fans now have the opportunity to cast their votes for the 2026 SouthCoast early season Player of the Year. The Standard-Times nomination list features competitors from across the region, including Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Bishop Stang, Apponequet, Old Rochester, and Wareham.

Among the contenders is Greg Francis of Apponequet, who is expected to anchor his team's lineup this season. Also drawing attention is Rowan Jensen, also representing Apponequet, as the program looks to build on its recent competitive efforts. Bishop Stang enters the conversation with Robby Duarte and Chris Lemaire, both of whom are anticipated to make significant impacts in singles and doubles play.

Dartmouth's contingent is led by Tyler DaSilva, Wesley Jordan, and Desmond Waite, giving the school multiple voices in the Player of the Year conversation. Over at Fairhaven, the squad has placed six nominees on the list, Jesse Chen, Nathan Fernandez, Alex Hu, Noah Petruski, Jason Vasquez, and Harrison Zhang, the most of any single school, reflecting the program's depth heading into the season.

Old Rochester's Subhav Parajuli and Luke Pierre round out the central core of candidates, while Wareham's contingent includes Brett Brophy, Ajani Bunting, Boon Ouellette, and Landon Stewart.

Voting is open to the public and will remain active until 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 19. Readers can submit their picks through the Standard-Times official voting platform. The winner will be announced following the close of the voting window and will be featured in upcoming SouthCoast tennis coverage throughout the spring season.

The emergence of so many new names reflects the cyclical nature of high school athletics, where programs must constantly reload rather than rebuild. With competitive balance spreading across the region, the 2026 SouthCoast boys tennis season promises to be one of the most open in recent memory.
