Shadab Khan's unbeaten 113 lifts Pakistan past England in last-wicket thriller
Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf shared an unbeaten last-wicket stand of 89 to secure a one-wicket win in Lahore. England face elimination from the ODI tri-series after a third defeat.

Shadab Khan hit an unbeaten 113 as Pakistan recovered from 154-9 to beat England by one wicket in their one-day international tri-series match in Lahore. According to BBC Sport's match report, his unbroken partnership of 89 with Haris Rauf carried Pakistan to 243-9 in pursuit of 242, with 17 balls remaining. England have now lost all three of their matches in the competition.

Watch the highlights:

The final pair came together with Pakistan still needing 88 runs, after England's bowlers had put the visitors within one wicket of victory. Shadab, batting at number eight, had arrived at 103-6 and finished with 13 fours and five sixes from 96 deliveries. BBC Sport reported that his innings was the highest score by a number eight in an ODI, while the partnership set a record for a last-wicket stand in a successful ODI chase.

Rauf contributed seven runs but provided the support Shadab needed through an 80-ball partnership. He faced 19 deliveries, defending the first 18 before striking debutant Henry Crocombe for the boundary that completed the chase. Rauf spent 70 minutes at the crease, more than twice the length of his previous longest ODI innings, as Shadab managed the strike for much of their stand.

Pakistan's recovery almost ended when Shadab was given out lbw to Gus Atkinson on 97, with 21 runs still required. Players had begun shaking hands before Shadab sought a review. The decision was overturned after the technology detected an inside edge. England also had a possible run-out opportunity involving Rauf when Pakistan still needed 18, but were unable to finish the match.

Earlier, Ben Duckett scored 105 from 111 balls in England's total of 241, which ended after 46.4 overs. Shaheen took 4-46 for Pakistan. Duckett, Sam Curran and Atkinson were the only England batters to pass 20. Jamie Overton then returned 3-43, delivering his full allocation of 10 overs in one uninterrupted spell as England moved into a commanding position before the last-wicket recovery.

The defeat followed England's loss to Sri Lanka three days earlier, when they conceded 430. Their place in the tri-series is now dependent on other results: a Sri Lanka victory over Pakistan on Tuesday would confirm England's elimination before their final match against Sri Lanka on Thursday. For Pakistan, Shadab's return after missing the opening two matches brought a victory that had looked beyond reach at nine wickets down.
