Sesko backs Fernandes for Player of the Year amid stellar campaign at Man Utd
Brest striker Benjamin Sesko has thrown his weight behind Bruno Fernandes for the Premier League Player of the Year award, citing the Manchester United captain's consistent excellence throughout the season.

Benjamin Sesko, the Slovenian striker who has emerged as one of European football's most sought-after talents, has endorsed Bruno Fernandes as his choice for Premier League Player of the Year. The Brest forward, who has been linked with several top clubs including Manchester United, praised Fernandes' leadership and consistency in what has been a challenging season for the Red Devils.

Watch the highlights:

Fernandes has been a rare bright spot in Manchester United's campaign, contributing 15 goals and 12 assists across all competitions. His performances have often masked the deficiencies in the team around him, with the Portuguese international leading by example through his work rate, creativity, and ability to deliver in crucial moments.

"Bruno is an exceptional player," Sesko said in an interview published on Friday. "To maintain those standards when everything around you is changing and the results aren't what the club wants – that shows real character. He plays with his heart on his sleeve every single match."

The endorsement from Sesko carries particular weight given the Slovakian international's own impressive form. The 22-year-old has scored 18 goals for Brest this season, helping the club push for European qualification in Ligue 1. His performances have attracted attention from Manchester United, Arsenal, and several other elite clubs across Europe.

Fernandes took over the captain's armband at Old Trafford following Harry Maguire's departure, and the added responsibility has not diminished his impact. Former United players have repeatedly called for the club to build their team around their creative talisman, arguing he deserves a supporting cast capable of competing for major honours.

The Player of the Year award, voted on by a combination of fans, captains, and a panel of experts, will be announced at the Premier League's season-ending awards ceremony. Fernandes faces competition from several other candidates, including Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland, and Cole Palmer, but Sesko believes his fellow attacking midfielder deserves recognition for his individual brilliance amid collective struggles.

"Sometimes the best players are the ones who perform when everything around them is difficult," Sesko added. "Bruno does that every week. That deserves to be rewarded."
