BBC Sport reported Napoli's statement that the procedure was completed on Tuesday morning as planned and was a complete success. The club's update set out a short initial recovery period, saying McTominay will rest for around two weeks before he starts training again. Napoli did not announce a precise date for his return to competitive action.

The procedure followed Napoli's September 1 disclosure that McTominay would require corrective treatment using cardiac ablation. ANSA reported at the time that the issue was a mild benign arrhythmia and that the club expected him to become available again after the international break. McTominay had already missed Napoli's league match against Inter Milan while the medical issue was being addressed. The 29-year-old joined Napoli from Manchester United in August 2024 and quickly became a central figure for the club.
