Scott Jamieson Ends 14-Year Title Drought at Nexo Championship

Scott Jamieson claimed his first DP World Tour title in 14 years by winning the Nexo Championship at Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire. BBC Sport reported that the 42-year-old Scot closed with a five-under-par 67 to finish at 11 under, two shots clear of England's Matthew Jordan.

Jamieson began the final round three strokes behind overnight leader Jordan but overturned the deficit during a tense Sunday finish. Jordan completed the tournament at nine under, while England's Andy Sullivan was third at seven under. Spain's Quim Vidal, Sweden's Marcus Kinhult and Japan's Keita Nakajima shared the next position on six under.

The contest also featured an unusual penalty that affected the lead. South Africa's Shaun Norris, who had moved in front, received a two-shot penalty after kicking away a loose divot on the fairway. Jamieson ultimately moved ahead and maintained his advantage through the closing holes to secure the tournament.

The result delivered only the second DP World Tour victory of Jamieson's career. His previous win came at the Nelson Mandela Championship in 2012. BBC Sport reported that the latest success also protected his status on the circuit, guaranteeing his playing rights for at least next season after he had faced the possibility of losing his tour card.

After the victory, Jamieson received a video call from United States President Donald Trump, whose name is attached to the host course. The report said contacting the winner has become a tradition at the venue, with fellow Scot Grant Forrest receiving a call after winning the tournament the previous year. Jamieson said the president appeared to have followed the competition and congratulated him.

Forrest endured a difficult final round in his title defence, shooting 80 to finish on 10 over par. Other Scottish players fared better, with Euan Walker and Connor Syme among a group tied for 10th at four under. Jamieson's closing 67 and two-shot margin ended one of the longer victory gaps on the DP World Tour and gave him immediate security for the coming season.
