Schade scores twice as Brentford hold Bournemouth to 2-2 draw

Kevin Schade scored twice as Brentford drew 2-2 at Bournemouth on Saturday, September 12, with his second goal cancelling out Marcus Tavernier's strike just four minutes after the hosts had taken the lead. Brentford's official match report confirmed that the visitors recovered from 2-1 down to take a point at the Vitality Stadium.

Schade headed in Yehor Yarmoliuk's cross in the 34th minute before Justin Kluivert equalised. After the interval, Evanilson controlled a pass from António Silva and set up Tavernier, who scored in the 52nd minute. Bournemouth's advantage disappeared when goalkeeper Djordje Petrović sent a pass straight to Schade, who lifted his finish over him.

Caoimhín Kelleher subsequently saved from Tyler Adams, while Rayan shot wide after being released by Alex Scott. Bournemouth substitute Ben Gannon-Doak almost decided the contest at the end, but his deflected shot struck the post. Brentford's account also confirmed a first Premier League start for Jannik Schuster, one of four changes made by Keith Andrews.

The Guardian reported that Brentford remained unbeaten and Bournemouth were still seeking their first league victory of the season. For Marco Rose's team, Saturday brought another match in which taking the lead did not deliver all three points, although this time the decisive equaliser arrived relatively early in the second half.

That followed a 2-2 draw at Newcastle the previous Saturday. According to Sky Sports' report of that match, Tavernier's opener and a Malick Thiaw own goal had put Bournemouth two ahead. Harvey Barnes reduced the deficit before Jacob Ramsey equalised in the 88th minute. Bournemouth recorded 17 attempts to Newcastle's eight but could not secure their first league win under Rose.

Sky Sports reported that Bournemouth had already dropped seven points from winning positions through their opening three league matches, with stoppage-time goals against Manchester City and Everton preceding the Newcastle setback. After that game, Rose told TNT Sports his side needed to finish matches and defend their goal more effectively. Against Brentford, they again scored twice without earning a victory.
