Sávio Scores on Tottenham Debut in 5-1 Carabao Cup Win

Tottenham Hotspur beat Charlton Athletic 5-1 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday to advance in the Carabao Cup, with Sávio scoring on his debut. The Guardian reported that the substitute needed only 11 minutes on the field to open his account after joining Spurs from Manchester City.

Mikey Moore broke the deadlock for Tottenham with a powerful left-footed shot from the edge of the penalty area. The 19-year-old moved inside from the right before driving the ball through goalkeeper Tiernan Brooks, giving the hosts the reward for an improved spell late in the first half.

Dominic Solanke doubled the lead before the interval. After Lucas Bergvall's effort was blocked and Charlton failed to clear the loose ball, Solanke swept a composed finish into the bottom corner. Charlton had earlier threatened through Greg Docherty, whose shot was saved by Antonin Kinsky, while Nathan Asiimwe headed narrowly wide.

Tottenham remained in control after the break, and Kevin Danso made an immediate impact from the bench. With his first touch after coming on, the defender headed in Mateus Fernandes's free-kick. Sávio then entered with Spurs already three goals ahead and soon cut in from the right to drive a low shot inside the near post.

Sávio was involved again as Tottenham added a fifth. He beat defenders after moving infield, but his shot struck teammate Ben Davies before going into the net. Charlton substitute Lloyd Jones later headed home from a corner to give the visitors a consolation goal.

Charlton manager Nathan Jones had made 10 changes from the side that won at West Ham on Saturday, according to The Guardian. His team also lost central defenders Collins Sichenje and Billy Koumetio to injuries in the 15th minute. Tottenham, meanwhile, brought Destiny Udogie, Rodrigo Bentancur, Fernandes and Solanke into the starting lineup after all four had been restricted to substitute roles in the club's preceding league defeat at Brentford.
