Savage wins first Peterborough league match as Leicester fall 3-1
Peterborough scored three times before half-time to beat Leicester 3-1 in Robbie Savage’s first league match in charge. The victory lifted Posh to eight points from nine games.

Robbie Savage began his League One tenure at Peterborough United with a 3-1 victory away to Leicester City on Saturday, 10 October. BBC Sport confirmed the winning start at the King Power Stadium, where the visitors established a three-goal interval lead before Leicester managed a second-half reply. The match was Savage's first as an EFL league manager.

Watch the highlights:

According to Sky Sports' match report, Owura Edwards scored the opener in the 12th minute. He moved infield from the left, beat Olabade Aluko and finished across goal. Peterborough doubled their advantage after 36 minutes, with Bolu Shofowoke getting beyond Luke Thomas and supplying Harry Leonard for the finish.

Leicester conceded again in the 44th minute when Warren O'Hora diverted an Ethan Williams effort into his own goal. That left Russell Martin's side facing a three-goal deficit at the break, with Peterborough having scored twice in the closing ten minutes of the half.

Martin made three substitutions at half-time. The hosts reduced the deficit in the 68th minute through Emil Riis, who converted a pass from substitute Wes Burns. Sky Sports reported that the goal came from Leicester's 20th attempt, but it proved their only scoring contribution.

Alex Bass subsequently saved from Kamari Doyle to keep Peterborough's two-goal advantage intact. At the other end, Danny Ormerod threatened to add a fourth. Leicester finished with a third home league defeat of the campaign, and the players were booed as they left the pitch.

The result gave Peterborough a second league victory of the season. The standings displayed on Leicester's official website placed them 20th with eight points from nine matches, comprising two wins, two draws and five defeats. The Guardian reported that the victory ended a seven-week wait for a league win.

Leicester were listed 17th on nine points after eight games, one point ahead of Peterborough with a match fewer played. Their league record stood at two wins, three draws and three losses. Despite Riis's second-half goal, they took no points from Savage's return to the King Power Stadium.
