Saudi Arabia to End LIV Golf Funding After 2026 Season
Saudi Arabia will withdraw its funding of LIV Golf at the end of the current season, according to reports. The decision marks a significant shift for the breakaway golf series, which launched in 2022 backed by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia.
Watch the highlights:
The move plunges the future of LIV Golf into uncertainty. The series has offered record prize funds and attracted major names including Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka since its inception.
The withdrawal of Saudi backing comes amid ongoing legal disputes with the PGA Tour. LIV Golf has been attempting to establish itself as a rival to the traditional tour structure, offering 54-hole events with no cut and guaranteed appearance fees.
It remains unclear what the funding withdrawal means for existing LIV Golf contracts and whether the series can continue in its current form. LIV Golf has yet to comment publicly on the situation.
