Sai Kishore spins Gloucestershire to 213-run win over Derbyshire

Gloucestershire defeated Derbyshire by 213 runs in the County Championship Division Two match at the Seat Unique Stadium in Bristol, completing a striking recovery from a first-day collapse. BBC Sport reported that Derbyshire, set 319 to win, were dismissed for 105 inside 39 overs during the final session as Gloucestershire collected 19 points.

India spinner Sai Kishore led the decisive effort with 5-20 from 18 overs. Ollie Price took 3-59 and Ed Middleton added 2-17, meaning spin accounted for all 10 Derbyshire wickets. The victory was especially notable because Gloucestershire had been reduced to 37-5 on the opening day before recovering to make 237. Derbyshire replied with 278.

Gloucestershire built the winning position by declaring their second innings at 359-5. Miles Hammond scored 118 and James Bracey finished unbeaten on 104, with the pair adding 165 for the fourth wicket. Their stand allowed the home side to move from 149-3 at the start of the final day to 268-3 by lunch before accelerating toward the declaration.

Derbyshire missed chances to interrupt that progress. According to the BBC report, Shoaib Bashir dropped Bracey from his own bowling when the batter was on five, while Matt Montgomery put down a return chance offered by Hammond on 77. Hammond went on to register his third first-class century of the season, and Bracey completed his fifth. Bracey also became Gloucestershire's first player to score two hundreds in a first-class match since Alex Gidman in 2007, having made 113 in the first innings.

Derbyshire approached the target with survival the immediate priority, but Kishore transformed the chase after tea. He dismissed Harry Came leg before wicket and bowled Montgomery with consecutive deliveries, then had Wayne Madsen caught at second slip. Price removed Mohammed Bin Naeem before Kishore bowled Aneurin Donald and Brooke Guest within three deliveries, completing his five-wicket haul inside eight overs as Derbyshire slipped to 41-6.

Martin Andersson provided the visitors' main resistance with 35, but Middleton had him caught at first slip after also accounting for Ben Aitchison. Price then trapped Jack Morley and Brett Randell leg before wicket to finish with match figures of 9-104. The win ended a sequence of six straight defeats for bottom-of-the-table Gloucestershire, whose two victories this season have both come against Derbyshire.
