Sadiki's stoppage-time winner gives Sunderland 2-1 comeback victory at Torreense
Noah Sadiki scored in the third minute of added time as Sunderland overturned a half-time deficit to beat Torreense 2-1 in the Europa League on Thursday, October 15. The result kept the English side unbeaten after two league-phase matches and handed their Portuguese opponents a first defeat in the competition.

According to Sky Sports, Sunderland manager Régis Le Bris made seven changes to his starting side. The visitors struggled to turn possession into chances and did not record a shot on target until the 57th minute. Volnei Feltes had put Torreense ahead before the interval with a long-range finish into the top corner.
Le Bris responded by introducing Enzo Le Fée, Granit Xhaka, Reinildo and Nordi Mukiele together in the second half. Mukiele then supplied the cross for Jules Ahoka to head Sunderland level. Sky Sports reported that a late penalty decision in Sunderland's favour was overturned following a video review, leaving the visitors still searching for a winner.
Xhaka provided the final touch into Sadiki's path for the decisive strike inside the penalty area. It was Sadiki's first goal for Sunderland, Sky Sports reported. The midfielder's finish completed a comeback that had begun with Ahoka's equaliser in the 67th minute, after Volnei opened the scoring in the 37th.
The match carried particular significance for Sunderland, whose club information identified the trip as their first European away fixture in more than 53 years. They had opened their campaign by beating AZ Alkmaar 1-0 at the Stadium of Light through a second-half Le Fée penalty. Thursday's game was staged in Leiria rather than Torreense's usual home, with the Portuguese club using the larger venue for European fixtures.
Torreense reached the competition by winning the Portuguese Cup despite playing in the country's second tier, Sunderland's club account confirmed. They had also won their opening European match, away to Lillestrøm. RTP reported that Thursday's defeat left them on three points, with a trip to Hungary to face Ferencváros next week. Sunderland, meanwhile, have collected six points from their opening two matches.
