Ryland kicks Cardinals past Rams as Chiefs remain unbeaten
Chad Ryland kicked six field goals, including the winner as time expired, as the Arizona Cardinals beat the Los Angeles Rams 18-16 in NFL Week Six. According to BBC Sport's report by Ben Collins, Ryland accounted for every Arizona point with a career-best field-goal total, lifting the Cardinals above the Rams in the NFC West. Arizona improved to 2-4, leaving Los Angeles bottom of the division.
Watch the highlights:
The Rams had moved ahead with 47 seconds left through Colby Parkinson's touchdown and an extra point from punter Ethan Evans. Evans took over kicking duties after Blake Grupe hurt a knee making a tackle on the kick-off following his opening field goal. Los Angeles had signed Grupe from the New York Jets' practice squad after releasing Harrison Mevis. Arizona's two wins this season have both come at SoFi Stadium, following its Week One victory over the Chargers.
Kansas City remained unbeaten by defeating the Chargers 22-6. Kenneth Walker rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns, taking his season total to a league-leading 665 rushing yards. Patrick Mahomes secured his 100th regular-season win in his 131st start, matching Tom Brady's record. The Chiefs joined Minnesota at 5-0, with fellow unbeaten team San Francisco due to host Washington on Monday night.
Philadelphia fell 25-14 to Carolina as Tanner McKee made his third NFL start in place of Jalen Hurts, who had been placed on injured reserve. Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble scored his first two touchdowns of the season. The Eagles are now 2-4 after losing four successive games, their first such run under head coach Nick Sirianni, who took charge in 2021.
At Wembley, Houston beat Jacksonville 34-31 through a decisive Ka'imi Fairbairn field goal. Jaguars receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter recorded both a touchdown catch and an interception in the fourth quarter. BBC Sport reported that he became the first player to achieve that combination in one game since Brian Dawkins in 2002, and the fourth since the 1970 league merger.
Cleveland also won through a late kick, with Andre Szmyt sealing a 13-10 victory over Baltimore. Derrick Henry's fourth-quarter fumble had allowed Audric Estime to score a touchdown for the Browns. Cleveland moved to 4-2 and leads the AFC North on a tie-breaker, with Baltimore and Pittsburgh holding the same record.
