Ryland kicks Cardinals past Rams as Mahomes reaches 100 regular-season wins
Chad Ryland kicked all of Arizona's points in an 18-16 victory over the Los Angeles Rams, while Patrick Mahomes reached 100 regular-season wins as Kansas City remained unbeaten in NFL week six. According to BBC Sport's roundup of Sunday's games, Ryland's career-best sixth field goal settled the contest as time expired and sent the Rams to the bottom of the NFC West.
Watch the highlights:
Los Angeles had taken the lead with only 47 seconds left. Colby Parkinson scored a touchdown and punter Ethan Evans converted the extra point after taking over kicking duties. The Rams had signed Blake Grupe from the New York Jets' practice squad after releasing Harrison Mevis earlier in the week. Grupe opened the scoring with a field goal but injured his knee making a tackle on the following kick-off.
Arizona responded to the late touchdown by setting up Ryland's decisive kick. Both of the Cardinals' victories this season have come at SoFi Stadium: they also beat the Los Angeles Chargers there in week one. Having won three games last season, Arizona now have two victories this year and moved above the Rams in a division that also includes San Francisco and Seattle.
Kansas City beat the Chargers 22-6, with Kenneth Walker rushing for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Mahomes earned his 100th regular-season victory in his 131st start, matching Tom Brady's record. Walker's season rushing total reached 665 yards, which BBC Sport reported was a record for a player's first five games with a new team. The Chiefs improved to 5-0.
Houston supplied another late finish at Wembley, where Ka'imi Fairbairn's field goal secured a 34-31 victory over Jacksonville. Jaguars receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter caught a touchdown pass and intercepted a pass in the fourth quarter. His interception helped set up Cam Little's game-tying field goal before Fairbairn delivered Houston's second win of the season, leaving Jacksonville at 4-2.
Cleveland also won on a late field goal, beating Baltimore 13-10 after Derrick Henry's fourth-quarter fumble helped turn the game. Audric Estime scored a touchdown and Andre Szmyt supplied the winning kick. The Browns moved to 4-2 and led the AFC North on a tie-breaker, with Baltimore and Pittsburgh holding the same record.
