Rubin Colwill Free-Kick Rescues Cardiff in 1-1 Welsh Derby Draw
Rubin Colwill scored with almost the final kick to give Cardiff City a 1-1 Championship draw against Wrexham. Kieffer Moore had put the visitors ahead in the third minute before the eighth-minute stoppage-time equaliser.

Rubin Colwill struck a stoppage-time free-kick to rescue a 1-1 Championship draw for Cardiff City against Wrexham at Cardiff City Stadium. The Guardian reported that the decisive moment came in the eighth minute of added time, when George Dobson fouled Joel Colwill near the edge of the penalty area. Rubin Colwill then drove the set piece over the wall and beyond Wrexham goalkeeper Anthony Patterson, denying the visitors a first win in the Welsh capital since 1992.

Watch the highlights:

Wrexham had led from the third minute through former Cardiff striker Kieffer Moore. Cardiff failed to deal fully with a Lewis O'Brien free-kick, allowing Danny Imray to return the ball forward. Gabriel Osho played Moore onside, and the forward moved beyond Joel Bagan before firing above Nathan Trott. It was Moore's first goal since February, ending an 11-game scoring drought for Wrexham, and his seventh career goal against Cardiff.

Cardiff had entered the match with a makeshift central-defensive pairing. Injuries to Calum Chambers, Dylan Lawlor and Will Fish forced usual left-back Bagan to partner Osho. Wrexham repeatedly threatened that reorganised defence and finished with 18 attempts to Cardiff's 11. Trott tipped over a Callum Doyle header, while Moore later met an O'Brien cross and sent his header narrowly over the crossbar.

The home side gradually found more attacking rhythm in the first half. Patterson reacted quickly after Zak Vyner underhit a back pass, reaching the loose ball before Yousef Salech. Jack Moylan lifted another Cardiff effort over the target, and Patterson dealt comfortably with Cian Ashford's attempt following a fluent home move. At the other end, Imray forced another stop from Trott with a shot that appeared to be travelling wide.

Wrexham resumed on the front foot after the interval. Trott saved with his foot at the near post after Ollie Rathbone found Doyle, then made a more routine stop from Nathan Broadhead. Doyle came even closer with a powerful effort that beat Trott but struck the post. Cardiff introduced brothers Joel and Rubin Colwill shortly after the hour, and Moylan then saw a deflected attempt pass just outside the post.

The closing stages brought pressure and danger at both ends. Wrexham defender Dominic Hyam headed against his own crossbar as Cardiff continued to chase an equaliser. Dobson's late challenge on Joel Colwill finally gave the hosts their opening, and Rubin Colwill converted it with no meaningful time left. The result left Wrexham to reflect on numerous chances to extend their early lead, while Cardiff earned a point through the game's final decisive action.
