Robinson returned 4-11, Archer took 3-26 and Tongue claimed two wickets, while Atkinson completed the pace attack.
Robinson combined movement with accuracy and frequently bowled with wicketkeeper Smith standing up to the stumps. Archer supplied the greater pace, reaching 95mph during his opening spell, according to the BBC report. Robinson removed Saud Shakeel and Muhammad Rizwan after successful leg-before reviews and later dismissed Awais, while Archer bowled Ali Usman and Abbas.
England then lost Ben Duckett and Cox inside the first 19 balls of their second innings, both to Khurram Shahzad. Emilio Gay and Joe Root responded with a 47-run stand before Mohammad Ali trapped Root lbw for 24. Harry Brook overturned an lbw decision on the next delivery after a review showed an inside edge.
Gay reached the close unbeaten on 30, with Brook still alongside him, as fading light brought play to an end. BBC Sport noted that poor weather was forecast for Saturday, leaving uncertainty over how much play would be possible on day three.
