Richarlison, Danso and Sarr Ask to Leave Tottenham

Tottenham head coach Roberto de Zerbi says Richarlison, Kevin Danso and Pape Matar Sarr have each asked to leave the club. BBC Sport reported that none of the three players was included in the squad for Saturday's 2-0 home defeat by Newcastle United.

De Zerbi disclosed their requests after the match. He said Richarlison had expressed a desire to leave on several occasions, while Danso approached him two days before the Newcastle game and Sarr made the same request. The coach added that Sarr had sustained a small injury but was close to returning to training.

The Tottenham manager said he retained good relationships with the players but made clear that any departure would depend on a financial resolution acceptable to the club. No completed transfers for the trio were reported, leaving their futures unresolved with the summer window still the immediate focus.

Richarlison led Tottenham's scoring last season with 11 goals and played a significant role as the club secured Premier League survival on the final day. De Zerbi had acknowledged earlier in August that the Brazil forward was uncertain about his future. Tottenham have since added Manchester City striker Omar Marmoush on loan, and Marmoush started in Richarlison's place against Newcastle.

Danso also faces increased competition in central defence following the arrivals of Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke. Micky van de Ven signed a new contract and received the captaincy. BBC Sport said Sunderland offered to take Danso, an Austria international with 36 caps, on a season-long loan, but Tottenham rejected that proposal.

Sarr's prospects in midfield have been affected by the arrivals of Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali. Those additions form part of a summer in which Tottenham have spent more than £300 million, according to BBC Sport. Despite that investment, Spurs have opened the Premier League season with defeats by Brentford and Newcastle, leaving them without a point or a goal after two matches.
